The journey is new, but the place is familiar. Dr. Mary Rock is a dentist with over 25 years of experience and is thrilled to return to her home state to operate Valley View Dental.
Dr. Rock graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in 1996 and has practiced in Nebraska and New Mexico. She grew up on a farm near Avoca, a small Iowa town located approximately 40 miles east of Council Bluffs.
Dr. Rock thrives on building connections with patients. By now, she realizes people don't buzz with excitement for a dentist appointment. With that in mind, Dr. Rock's personality naturally creates a warm, light environment that prioritizes professionalism and productivity. Dr. Rock routinely finds the appropriate treatment plan for a variety of considerations, including cosmetic dentistry, root canals, implants, clear aligners, sleep disorders and, perhaps most importantly, the relationship between one's oral health and their overall wellbeing.
Growing up, Dr. Rock's teeth were crooked - a source of personal doubt and self-consciousness. She calls a successful correction of her smile life-changing, and that's not hyperbole. Doing the same for others is part of what continues to drive her passion, day-in and day-out. (If you look good, you feel good ... and all of that). Dr. Rock and her husband Tom are parents to four adult children - and a miniature dachshund - and love spending time with their seven grandchildren. Dr. Rock enjoys being outside (hiking, biking, swimming, catching a nearby live music show …) and she also enjoys sewing and being active in her community.
At Valley View Dental, Dr. Rock and her team take pride in developing trustworthy and communicative relationships with patients - and, yes, they like to have fun along the way, too.
Invisalign has changed the way we think about braces, especially for teens. Traditional metal braces used to be the go-to solution for straightening teeth, but they come with certain challenges. They can be uncomfortable, noticeable, and sometimes even painful. Invisalign offers a clear alternative that is gaining popularity among teenagers and their parents.
Invisalign aligners are custom-made, clear plastic trays that fit snugly over your teeth. They work by gently shifting your teeth into the desired position over time. Because they are nearly invisible, many teens prefer them. This means they can go about their daily activities without feeling self-conscious about their smile.
The convenience of Invisalign can’t be overstated. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign aligners can be removed for eating, brushing, and flossing. This makes maintaining good oral hygiene much easier. Plus, there are no wires or brackets to cause irritation. With all these benefits, it’s no wonder more and more teens are choosing Invisalign to achieve a perfect smile. Let's explore what makes Invisalign a great choice for teenagers.
Invisalign works by using a series of custom-fitted, clear plastic aligners that gradually shift your teeth into their correct positions. The process starts with a visit to your dentist, who will take digital scans of your teeth. These scans help create a 3D model of your mouth, which is used to design your unique treatment plan.
Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks. You need to wear them for at least 20 to 22 hours a day for the best results. The aligners are designed to apply gentle, consistent pressure to your teeth, moving them a little bit at a time. Every couple of weeks, you switch to a new set of aligners that continue to move your teeth closer to their final positions.
What makes Invisalign ideal for teens is its flexibility. The aligners can be removed, allowing teens to eat, drink, brush, and floss comfortably. This reduces the risk of cavities and gum disease that can sometimes occur with metal braces. It’s also a great option for teens who play sports or musical instruments, as there are no wires or brackets to get in the way.
The combination of these benefits makes Invisalign a popular choice for teens and parents alike. It offers a modern, comfortable, and effective way to achieve a beautiful, straight smile without the hassles that come with traditional braces.
Choosing between Invisalign and traditional braces involves understanding their differences and benefits. Let’s break down how each option stacks up against the other.
Both Invisalign and traditional braces are effective for correcting dental issues. However, the choice depends on individual needs and preferences. Invisalign offers a more comfortable and less noticeable way to achieve a straight smile, making it a strong contender for teens.
Getting the most out of Invisalign requires some effort and care. Here are tips for teens to ensure successful treatment:
Invisalign offers a modern, effective way for teens to achieve a straight smile without the drawbacks of traditional braces. With nearly invisible aligners, greater comfort, and the ability to maintain good oral hygiene, it’s no wonder many teens prefer Invisalign. Understanding how Invisalign works and its benefits helps make an informed decision. Comparing it to traditional braces highlights why so many teens and parents choose this option.
